The Adventure Fleet Program offers a unique opportunity for sailors to explore the water with friends and family at their own pace. You can join us on selected Sundays for our supervised Recreational Sailing Hours and guided Expedition Daysails. This program runs during the fall and spring seasons.
SKIPPERS CARDS
This program is open to all sailors who have completed either the Intermediate Pram 2 or Sailtrek 2 Learn To Sail Class and earned a Skippers Card. Parents and sailors with equivalent experience may ask an instructor for a quick skills check to satisfy this requirement and earn their own Skippers Card. All Skippers Card holders may bring a friend or family member aboard their boat, provided that they follow all sailing center rules and remain in good standing.
RECREATIONAL SAILING HOURS
Recreational Sailing Hours are typically offered once or twice a month on Sunday mornings. Skippers Card holders are invited to sail MRPF-owned sailboats within defined boundaries in front of the sailing center. We provide a trained instructor to monitor safety on the water and to help facilitate rigging when onshore. A casual lunchtime cookout and sailor social usually follows the sailing, providing an excellent opportunity to stay sharp with your skills, try out a new boat, and meet new friends.
EXPEDITION DAYSAILS
Expedition Daysails are typically held about once a month on Sunday afternoons. Skippers Card holders are invited to sail MRPF-owned boats in an instructor-guided rally-style cruise to explore a nearby landmark and enjoy a picnic lunch before heading home. Daysails are perfect for experienced sailors and families seeking to explore more of the Manatee River and Terra Ceia Bay.
