Manatee River Pram Fleet is currently seeking Sailing Coach(es)/Instructor(s) for our 2023 Summer Sailing Program.  Position includes teaching in the classroom and on-the-water sessions for 8 - 15-year-old beginner sailors.  Our summer program begins in June and ends in July.  Part-time position with possibility of advancement with other programs throughout the year.
 
Manatee River Pram Fleet is located on the north side of the Manatee River in Palmetto, FL.  Manatee River Pram Fleet supports and promotes the sport of sailing for the youth of Manatee County in an atmosphere of fun and good fellowship.  We strive to teach sportsmanship, responsibility, self-reliance, and respect for authority, equipment, and the marine environment. We are a non-profit organization and rely on donations to continue our programs.
 
Job Requirements, Qualifications, and Skills

• US Sailing Level 1 Instructor including CPR/First Aid
• Background Check
• Experience operating power boats.
• Prior sailing coach/instructor experience preferred.
• Honest, dependable, organized, outgoing, and have strong leadership skills.
• Passion for sailing, the environment, and working with kids.
• Positive, enthusiastic and flexible attitude
• Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt to changing program needs depending on weather, number of students, number of boats, etc.
• Reliable, motivated and possess good presentation skills.
• Ambitious, self-starters that are comfortable leading teams and developing youth.
• Leader by example with safety, fun and learning at the forefront.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Must be able to teach safety, boat handling and sailing theory to children.
• Must be able to develop and follow lesson plans that include dry land and on-the-water drills and inclement weather activities.
• Must have empathy for the students and be able to adapt to their individual needs.
• Accurate records of attendance, injuries and boat damage is required.
• Other duties include the care and maintenance of boats and the facility.
• The instructor must have knowledge and respect for the rules and regulations.
• Help maintaining and cleaning the docks, boats, and grounds before and after class.
